Keywords:
Greulich-Pyle method, chronological age, Skeletal ageAbstract
Objective: To determine the correlation between mean bone age estimated through Greulich-Pyle method and chronological bone age of Pakistani individuals
Methodology: Cross sectional observational descriptive study conducted in Department of Diagnostic Radiology, KRL General Hospital, Islamabad comprised of 250 individuals of both male and female genders using Non probability consecutive sampling technique. Data was collected on prescribed proforma and analysed using SPSS- 23.
Results:
A total of 250 individuals were included in this study. Skeletal age (SA) was estimated by the observation of hand-wrist radiographs of the individual using the Greulich-Pyle atlas. Pearson correlation showed significant correlation between SA and CA (r = 0.91; P < 0.0005). Stratification analysis was performed and observed that Pearson correlation was positive and highly significant with respect to different chronological age, gender and ethnicity groups.
